What parts of the project are you most pleased with?
I have been most pleased with making it on coral draw because i have kept on trying to make my chair right and when i got it right it has come out as good slot together furniture. I am happy with all the skills that like making a cam lock dowel joints using different things on coral draw. I have also been pleased with my drawings on different draws because at the begging we had to do a lot of drawings.

Was your slot together furniture successful?
My slot together furniture has been successful because I have made slot together furniture which is a chair and all the slots fit together and it stands up. It has been successful because I have had lots of practise and using different skills we have done so many things and the teacher has shown us so many skills and has helped us make our chair. We have also made a package which is also successful because I have included everything you need to put on the package.

Product Analysis

The target audience is for males and I going to use de still because that is what our  theme is about de still. The art movement is memphis and it relates to the target audience and on my work i have used the shapes and things like that.It will be manufactured in scool and we will have to make the design on a computer and will use coral draw. The wood that we are going to use is MDF what means medium density fiber wood. The target audience little children ages 5-8 and will want to put them in their rooms .this will be sutiable for the children becasue there is bright coloures and different shapes.it realates to the art movement becasue memephis has wired shapes and this has these shapes aswell that is why it realates to memephis.it would be made in a factory by useing soft mateirals and the back bit will be made out of plastic which will be also made in a factory.

Aesthetics:They have used bright coloures for this piece of furniture they have used red,yellow and blue and they have chosen a black outline.they have chosen these bright coloures so people will be attractive to it so then people  will buy there furniture and if they meet the requirements and if they do this people will be attractive to it.the furniture looks good because anyone will be able to sit on it the shape that they have used are squares and it stands because it will grab peoples attention.They have used the coloures because so young children will see it and they will tell there parents and it is made for anyone else and if they like it because of the design they ill also buy it.they have used acrylic to make this chair to make it look attractive because it make the plastic look shiny.the chair is the right size for a child or for a adult because they will be easily sit on the chair and they will feel comfortable.it is unique because it is made up of squares and it is different to the others that people make.they have used these materials so it will hold the weight of someone that sits on it.
Manufacture in school: In school we will make the product out of acrylic because in school we have access to it and to make it the right coloures we will use the same coloures of the acrylic and to make it the right shape we will use the laser cutter to make the squares to make the right shape.this will be appropriate because we have them in school and we have used this material before so it will be easy to make the chair because we have used the laser cutter before and then we will know how to make the chair in school because we have used the equipment before.to finish the product we would smooth the edges for health hazards and then we will slot the furniture together.If we do this it will make the product look good because it wont be a hazard to the people that buy it and it will look good.
Target audience:the product is for anyone but manly for children because of the coloures that they have used because bright coloures and the shapes that they have are simple so a child would like that.the product could be improved by a different style because it is just squares.the designer could make a different style like putting patterns of the chair then people will be more attractive to it even if it is attractive because of the coloures.
Ergonomics: it has been made for the user because the people that sit on the chair will feel comfortable sitting on it is has been made so anyone can sit on it and they will have no problem with it.
Materials and Manufacture: the materials that they have used are acrylic.It could cause pollution because they will make the plastic in a factory and all the smoke will go in the air and it could cause pollution.I think it has been manufacture in a factory because to make the plastic then they will slot it together and then they will sell it to people. the coast of the product will be £10.00 to £20.00 and this is alright for this chair.the chair is batch product becasue they make some so that they can sell the product and if they sell all of that they will make more and sell them to.
Safety: the product is safe because we will sharp the edges so it is smooth and then they will cause no accidents.It will cause no problems because it will be smooth and there will be no edges so then they wont hurt them self's and there is no sharp bits because it is all going to be curved.we will use the laser cutter and then we will smooth the edges with sand paper.we will have to consider it by changes the coloure for the older audience and we will make the design more complex so it will appeal for the older target audience.the product is stable because it will hold the weight of the people that sit on it.
Function:the function for this chair is to make people feel comfortable sitting on this chair.this doesn't affect the target audience because it will not cause them problems by sitting on the chair because it will make them feel comfortable because they will have no problems sitting on the chair because there back will be resting on the back of the chair and or feet will reach the floor.the product only has one function because it is only for people that can sit on the chair.we could make the product for to functions for example you could join a table on to it so it could be for two things a chair and a table.   









slot together design

This is my design idea and it is a chair anhd this is slot together furniture and i have mesaured it so it will fit the ergomome so he can sit on it.the chair is is going to be made out  of card first then finally we will make it from MDF so it is strong it will be the size of the ergonome and it will have to keep the weight of the ergonome so it dosent collpase and then if it dosent  work we will have to do it again until we have got it right.

Slot

this is my design idea and it is a table made out of cardboard and it has to fit the ergonome i had to use a craft knife and and a ruler and a cutting mat and with all of that equipment i had to make a piece of furniture and i made a table as i have shown in the picture.we had to make it so it would fit the ergonome and if it didn't fit we would have to do it again until it would fit the ergomone.

Slot Chair

this is the type of furniture that we are going to make and it i going to be made out of cardboard.It is going to be slot together furniture and the cardboard is going to slot in to holes so it stayes together and it will be easy to build and it will be easy so take apart because it is going to slot in.The chair will have to fit a small person and we will have to look at mesurments and we will have to divide it by 5 so it will fit the small person the chair will have to have slot in it so the cardboard can fit in.

2 Point

Cross Dowel Joint

you hace to drill a hole to put the screw in.

then you have to drill another hole so you can put the scrwe in.

then when you have put the the cross dowel joint in then uou have to check if it fits.

you have to put a 5mm line from the top so you can drill a hole in for the croos dowel joint.
 





when you have drilled the the hole you have to put the screw in to check if it fits put this time when we did it it didnt fit so we had to drill a bigger hole so it fits.

the cross dowel joint worked becasue we used the right mesurments.

we had to screw the screw in the bottom then we had to scure it with an key so it didnt come out we had top do this becasue the screw didnt come out.

Brief

I will need to consider the colours that I use.  For example i shall use the colours yellow, red, blue, black and white. Theese are the colours of De Stijl. The colours yellow, red and blue are also the three primary colours of the colour wheel. These colours make the furniture very bright.

Cam Lock

First you must get the piece of wood ready by marking a line on the wood against the edge of the bottom block and marking the drill position.
Do this using a square to ensure a good line is drawn. Next clamp the wood to the drill machine after setting the drill up with a 5mm drill bit. Using the chuck. Remove the chuck before drilling

Next make sure the drill will go down exactly where it needs to go and how low it needs to go. This can be done by changing the height of the drill and moving the block around.

Once you've finished drilling the hole, insert the cam by screwing it in tight.

Then do the drilling procedure on the top of the top piece but the drill bit size should be 7mm

Then test to see if it fits.

Finally use a forstner drill bit to drill the 15mm camlock hole. Once done, insert the cam lock and test
